Mystery donor makes up for money stolen from Redditch heart charity

AN ANONYMOUS donor has stepped forward to help a Redditch charity who had donations stolen last week.

A catering van, which is parked roadside in Washford, was broken into between 2pm on Wednesday (June 28) and 5am on Thursday (June 29) and the thieves stole everything inside including a charity collection box for the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF).

After reading about the theft online, a generous donor approached the charity with an envelope, containing an anonymous note and a hundred pounds in cash.

It read: “Dear Maggie and Rob. I would like to donate £100 to your charity.

“I read about how one of your money boxes was stolen during a burglary and it upset me. You do so much to help others. I know my donation is not much but I just wanted to help.”

The CCSHF which was set up by Redditch’s Rob and Maggie Underwood in 2011 to provide the local community with defibrillators, relies on support from the community to buy the life-saving machines.

Tears

Maggie, co-founder of the CCSHF, said: “I really can’t thank this person enough. I was moved to tears by this generous person.

“Thank you – who ever you are – from us all.”

The Foundation was set up after the Underwoods’ daughter Charlotte died suddenly in December 2010 of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.

Anyone who has any information about the theft can call police on 101 quoting incident number 92s of 29 June.
