VOTES from residents, visitors, volunteers and onsite staff have earned Terryspring Court in Redditch in a top ranking in a nationwide awards scheme.
The retirement living scheme in West Avenue, a Midland Heart home, is among 300 winners in the Elderly Accommodation Counsel’s ‘Housing for Older People Awards 2019’.
The development, which provides 58 one-bedroom flats with extra care services, took silver in the West Midlands ‘housing with care, 56 units and above’ category.

“There can be no better endorsement of excellence than nominations from those who live there and use the amenities and services, as well as from their families and friends.”
John Galvin, EAC’s chief executive added: “Specialist housing for older people plays an enormously significant role in helping them stay independent for longer.
“The security, support and great communities have a positive impact on individuals and reduce the need for NHS services.”
The EAC awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate the best specialist housing for older people, and aim to help shape the future of housing in later life through engaging residents, staff, visitors and volunteers who voted for their favourite schemes, developments, courts and estates out of the 1,220 nominated.
Built in 2000, Terryspring Court on Mount Pleasant was praised by voters for its links with the wider community, the quality of meals, the garden and staff interaction.
