THERE’S a very important wedding on May 19 – and it’s got nothing to do with a certain Royal and his American fiancee.
For way before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle picked their date, Redditch couple Samantha Eddy and Philip Speed had inked it in as their day to tie the knot.
“We booked ours last August, so you could say the Royals have copied us!” said Sam, a nursery nurse.
“Having said that, it’s nice to know we’re sharing our big day with theirs,” she added.
The couple will even be getting married at the same time as the Royals – 12noon.
Philip, aged 34, is an assistant manager at Topps Tiles at Washford Trade Park and the couple have been together for four years.
After a spell in Astwood Bank they’ve recently moved to Inkberrow where they plan to put down roots.
“It’s the right time for us, we’re not too young and we’re not too old,” said Sam.
And while they might not have the grandeur of Windsor Castle and St George’s Chapel where the Royals will say ‘I do’ Sam and Philip will have the splendour of Ardencote Manor in Warwick for their wedding party.
Then Sam and Philip will be jetting off to the sunkissed Cape Verde Islands off the west coast of Africa for their honeymoon.
“I can’t wait!” said Sam.
