New free fitness classes for women launched in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 30th Jul, 2025   0

FREE women-only fitness sessions are being offered across Redditch, writes Jeanna Karcz.

Redditch Borough Council has partnered with the Redditch Community Runners to deliver the sustainable sessions which are suitable for women of all ages who want to have a laugh and a chat whilst improving their fitness.

The council is also working with Rubicon Leisure which has provided four free gym classes for attendees of the new This Girl Can ‘Talk and Walk’ sessions.

The four-week course starts at 11am on August 4, meeting in the Visitor Centre at Arrow Valley Country Park.

Classes will be held at the Abbey Stadium.

Attendees of these ‘Talk and Walk’ sessions have free access to four weekly classes – Body Combat at 7.10pm on Mondays or 6.15pm on Wednesdays or Sh’Bam at 9.15am on Wednesdays or 10.15am on Thursdays.

Body Combat is a high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact.

The Sh’Bam class is a fresh and fun dance workout which builds fitness and encourages expressive movement.

Coun Juliet Barker Smith, Redditch Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Recreation, said: “It is a great way to get moving and take care of our health and wellbeing whilst also being good fun too.

“We are using our partnership to the best of our ability in order to get every benefit possible for our communities and residents.”

Visit Redditchdc.gov.uk and search for ‘This Girl Can’ for more information on the course and the sessions and to sign up.

Attendees will receive a code from their session leader which they will need to quote when emailing [email protected] to book the classes.
