PLANNED improvement upgrades to the Unicorn Hill part of the town centre have led to a plea from council chiefs – don’t get a parking charge.
Residents are being urged to take care when parking in the area as new restrictions are set to come into play.
From Thursday August 14, visitors to Unicorn Hill and Church Green West could face a penalty charge notice if they do not follow the new restrictions.
These include, but are not limited to:
- No parking, waiting, or loading at any time in the new cycle lane
- An introduction of a daytime waiting limit of 45 minutes on Unicorn Hill
- The introduction of a disabled parking bay on Unicorn Hill,
- A strict loading bay on Unicorn Hill, that cannot be used for parking of any sort
- An increase to the waiting limit on Bates Hill to 45 minutes.
Redditch Borough Councillor Bill Hartnett, whose brief covers enforcement, said: “We want our residents to avoid getting a fine so we wanted to give them as much notice as we can about these changes.”
The changes follow long-awaited work to upgrade Unicorn Hill, Church Green West and the top of Bates Hill.
Signs will be in place on the roadside to remind drivers.
