OFSTED has launched a new online registration system for Early Years settings in England to tackle the fall in the number of childminders.
Figures show that over the last ten years the industry has lost 24,200 childminders, representing a loss of more than 40 per cent.
To combat this, Ofsted recently completed a digital makeover of its website.
Ofsted says the desperately needed makeover marks a significant step towards ‘reigniting enthusiasm for establishing a childminding business’.
New features include online guidance during the registration process and improved clarity with regard to forms and registration.
Confusing jargon has been replaced with clearer language.
Applicants can also apply using their phone number or email instead of a Government Gateway username and Ofsted promises communication via email rather than through the account itself.
