A HEARTY breakfast known as ‘Old Faithful’ could help Beckett’s Farm win the top spot in the Visit Herefordshire and Visit Worcestershire tourism awards.

The popular family destination just off the A435 at Wythall has made the shortlist of the 2018 awards in the Eating Out category.

The category, sponsored by Worcestershire County Cricket Club, sees Becketts go head-to-head with Castle House Hotel in Hereford, the Cellar Door bistro also in Hereford, Churchfields, famous for their icecream, of Droitwich and Feli’s of Worcester.

“We’re famous for our ‘Old Faithful’ breakfast which has won us awards in the past. It’s a traditional full English with all the trimmings and is absolutely delicious,” said Hannah Baldwick from Becketts.

“However a key part of our entry in the competition is that we serve local food made from local ingredients here.

“We’ve also recently carried out a £400,000 refurbishment of our restaurant and have had great feedback from our customers.”

The Visit Herefordshire and Visit Worcestershire awards are aligned with the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Winners of a related category at a local level have the chance to be put forward to represent the counties nationally.

This year, Leominster-based The Riverside at Aymestrey won Gold in the Tourism Pub of the Year category at the national VisitEngland Awards after winning their category in 2017.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 11 at The Bank House Hotel, Spa and Golf Club.
