A MAN has been arrested after a serious assault in Redditch this evening.
Police responding to emergency calls arrived in Evesham Road at 6.45pm to find a 51-year-old man with ‘significant injuries’ outside the Eagle Inn pub.
Another 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody while officers continue their investigation into the incident.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a critical care paramedic, a second critical care paramedic from The Air Ambulance Service and a BASICS doctor to the scene.
A spokesperson said, on arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition.
The team of ambulance staff worked quickly to administer advanced life support and as soon as he was stabilised he was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further emergency care.
Det Sgt Chris Dee from West Mercia Police said: “When paramedics arrived they treated the man before taking him to hospital where he is condition is understood to be extremely serious.
“I want to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident.”
He appealed for anyone walking or driving in the area of the Eagle Inn between 6.15pm and 6.45pm to contact police with any information they have, no matter how small.
