MORE than 200 visitors descended on Redditch’s Forge Mill Museum over the weekend as part of the Heritage Open Days held to celebrate the nation’s history.

As well as being able to have a look around the museum and finding out about the town’s needle-making past, there were also a variety of activities taking place. These included tours of Bordesley Abbey and the chance to see some classic motorbikes brought along by members of the south Midlands branch of The Royal Enfield Owners’ Club. There was also live music to entertain the museum’s guests. The event was organised by Indigo Arts and the local history society.

A spokesperson for the museum said: “The organisers were very pleased with the turn-out they had – the response was great.”

Currently at the museum, there is an exhibition of work by some of the country’s leading textile artists.

“Because of the town’s needle history, we do get a lot of talented textile artists exhibiting here,” added the spokesperson.
