THE doors are being opened at Redditch’s Sandycroft this weekend for people to find out how the hub has been providing vital lifelines in the community for almost 30 years.
On Saturday (December 9) staff at the centre are opening up the doors to the public for a Coffee and Cake open day from 12noon until 3pm.
The event will offer people a unique opportunity to find out more about the centre, the variety of courses available and take a tour of the building. It will also give people the chance to meet some of the support staff who work at Sandycroft, and find out more about the counselling services which will be expanding in the new year.
The Sandycroft Centre in Smallwood (formally the All Women’s House) offers a wide range of services to support the community, including mental health counselling, education and advice on domestic abuse, as well as courses teaching languages and life skills.
Working closely with other agencies to create a ‘One-stop-shop’ approach, the centre is a place where women and men can speak independently, safely and find the help they need to progress.
The event also falls during the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence – part of White Ribbon Day, which started on November 25.
White Ribbon Campaign UK is part of a global movement to put a stop to male violence against women and girls.
As well as tours and advice, Coffee and Cake day will feature a raffle, tombola and a toy sale to help boost funds for the centre this winter.
