Correspondent 21st Aug, 2019

THE classic tale of Cinderella is hoping to spread its magic to the Redditch Palace Theatre stage and dancers are being urged to step up for audition next month, writes Eve Watson.

The pantomime dance auditions are on Sunday, September 1 with rehearsals earmarked for November 28.

Those applying must have birthdays within September 1, 2007 and November 28, 2010.

Participants must be no taller than 4ft 11ins and must be a minimum of Grade 1 standard or equivalent in modern, ballet and tap dance.

Every child must have a female relative over the age of 21 who is willing to sign up for a chaperone licence and help with shows on a rota basis.

Registration will be at the Palace Theatre at 12midday with auditions starting at 1pm. Children must be accompanied by their own parent.

If accompanied by another adult the child must have a pre-signed consent form with them obtainable from the children’s co-ordinator Jane Griffiths – you can also pre-register for the audition day by emailing Jane at

The performance starts on December 9 and carries on until January 5.

For more information email or contact Jane Griffiths on the email above.

The theatre says children who are recalled may be there for up to three hours so it is important they have drinks with them as well as all relevant shoes and dance wear.
