Paint the town red with brand new Redditch colouring book

Ross Crawford 27th Nov, 2017   0

RESIDENTS can now literally paint the town red with the launch of a new adult colouring book of Redditch.

Redditch Town Centre Partnership has joined forces with Winyates illustrator Madison White to produce Colour in Redditch.

The book features images of well-known landmarks in and around the town including St Stephen’s Church, The Palace Theatre, the Water Tower and Forge Mill.

There are also images of old Redditch before the New Town development in the 1960s and 70s.

Former Arrow Vale student Madison produced her first colouring book while studying in Bangkok and she wanted to recreate the project in her home town.

She approached Redditch Town Centre Partnership to fund the book, which it is hoped will help promote the town as well as raise funds for community events and projects.

A limited number of the books will also be made available to mental health support groups in Redditch and the Hill Crest unit as research shows colouring has many therapeutic benefits for adults.

Madison said: “I’ve really enjoyed working on the project and I’m delighted with the end result. I hope it brings people a lot of pleasure.”

Ian Dipple, chairman of Redditch Town Centre Partnership, said: “This gives people the chance to let their imagination go wild and bring their vision of Redditch to life.”

The book costs £7.50 and has been printed by Minuteman Press on Prospect Hill.

It goes on sale tomorrow, Saturday, November 25, at the town centre Christmas Lights switch-on from 2pm.

The final few copies of the limited edition version of Redditch Monopoly will also be on sale at a reduced price of £20.

The book will then be on sale at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre Customer Service Desk and the Christian book shop in St Stephen’s Church or search for Colour in Redditch on Ebay.

Anyone involved with a mental health support group in Redditch who would like copies of the colouring book should email Lyndsey.berry@bromsgroveand redditch.gov.uk
