A REDDITCH church has welcomed two reception classes, giving them a memorable experience of church, Palm Sunday, and the Easter story.
St Philip’s Church in Webheath hosted 60 children from Webheath Academy.
A highlight of the visit was a surprise appearance by three donkeys – Dolly, Nessie, and Jono – courtesy of The Animal Pantry, based in Astwood Bank.
The donkeys were extremely well-behaved, much to the delight of the children, who were thrilled to meet them up close.
A spokesperson for the church said: “We’re especially grateful to Harriet Mayne, teacher at Webheath, and Carole, Beth, and Sam from The Animal Pantry for making the visit possible.
“Inside the church, the children learned about the events of Palm Sunday, taking turns to be part of a joyful procession or to cheer it on.
“Their visit ended with a wonderfully energetic rendition of ‘He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands’, filling the church with song and smiles.
“It was a joyful day for all involved—a celebration of learning, community, and the wonder of Easter.”
