THE TRANSFORMATION of an eyesore building is set to be completed as a new pizza chain opens its doors.
Papa John’s will be serving up a slice of the action to customers from the former Jade Garden Chinese Restaurant building on Church Green West, which was gutted by fire in November 2008 and has blighted the town centre landscape ever since.
But the £250,000 investment by the pizza chain has seen the space transformed, with the creation of 20 new jobs.
A gas leak threatened to disrupt opening preparations but as the Standard goes to press it is hoped the takeaway would be up and running either tomorrow or Saturday.
Bilal Arshad, franchisee of Redditch Papa John’s, said: “I’m delighted we have managed to secure premises in Redditch and give the opportunity to provide the Papa’s pizzas to people in the area.”
