A MEMBER of the public raised the alarm after spotting that the gates to a house on A435 Birmingham Road in Mappleborough Green had been ripped open.

They stopped to check and found the premises had been burgled.

On arrival Police found that the thieves had got in through the patio doors and then stolen cash and car keys to steal a Lexus and Toyota Prius from outside. The Lexus, which had a tracker fitted, was later found in a warehouse just the other side of the M42 in Wythall.

The Prius has not been recovered and the suspicion is that it has had its numberplate changed and then shipped out to the continent.

The incident happened between 6.45pm and 10.23pm on Friday, April 13.
