POLICE in Warwickshire are looking for new student officers to expand the thin blue line.

The force’s Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe has highlighted the opportunities to join constabulary as a new student police officer, as the deadline for applications nears.

It comes as part of his commitment to see the numbers of officers available to the force increase to 1,100 by 2022.

The recruitment campaign to fill 40 student officer posts was launched at the beginning of June and potential applicants have until the end of the month to apply.

Successful applicants will become part of the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship programme (PCDA).

The three year programme offers the opportunity to:

Serve as a Police Constable from day one

Make a difference to people in Warwickshire communities

Earn a salary starting at £22,065 and rising to over £25,000 in the final year

Study for a fully funded Staffordshire University degree in Professional Policing Practice

Be part of the Warwickshire Police family ethos, with on-going training, personal development, support and guidance throughout

Take the first step in a long term policing career where progression opportunities are huge and varied

PCC Seccombe said: “These student officers will be part of the programme which will ultimately see the total number of officers the Chief Constable has available hit the 1,100 mark, the highest level ever seen in Warwickshire.

“I’m keen to see a wide and varied range of applications from people from all backgrounds and cultures to ensure that frontline policing is fully reflective of the communities Warwickshire Police serves.

“There’s still time to put in an application, so if you think a career as police officer is for you, please go online to find out more.”
