Perry the Bull brings Commonwealth cheers to Tenacres

CHILDREN from Tenacres First School got a big surprise as they received a visit from Commonwealth Games mascot Perry the Bull.

The pupils spoke with Perry about the Commonwealth Games and he took part in sporting activities with the school.

The Perry visit came from an application by a member of Sholfins Swim School, Rachel Compton-Wylie.

The application was submitted last November and the school was contacted the week before Perry’s visit to say it had been successful.

Around 1,500 applications were submitted to Perry in total.

Tenacres has been working with Sholfins Swim School since last September and students from many different year groups were able to regularly swim as a result.

Rachel said: “To hear that the application for Perry’s school visit had been successful out of so many was amazing.

“Tenacres First School has worked so hard this year in their swimming.

“The determination of the children has been inspiring and the school is outstanding in encouraging its children to thrive and grow.”
