Photographer launches calendar celebrating Redditch landmarks

Redditch Editorial 24th Nov, 2023   0

A REDDITCH photographer and artist has fulfilled a years-long ambition by creating a calendar celebrating the historic landmarks of the town he loves.

Mumtaz Shah has spent years developing his passion project, which contains snaps of iconic places in Redditch including the John Bonham Memorial, Forge Mill Needle Museum, the Palace Theatre and St Stephen’s Church.

He had the idea of a town calendar, believed to be the first of its kind, a few years ago and has been planning it ever since.

He has previously completed a solo art exhibition in Redditch and has produced postcards of the town.

Mumtaz told the Standard he was thrilled to have finally completed his calendar, which was the last artistic achievement he had left on his bucket list.

He added: “I have taken and went through hundreds of pictures of each landmark trying to identify the right ones for this calendar.

“The entire process has been quite time-consuming but I’m very proud of the final result and am happy I persevered.”

The calendar costs £9.49 each and is available at Resolve Media/ Pick Art, (opposite Waterstones), Redditch Local History Museum and the Redditch Nationwide Building Society.
