PICTURE SPECIAL - Coughton C of E Primary School raises £1600 at festive event

A PRIMARY school in Alcester is celebrating the success of its first-ever Coughton Courtyard Christmas.

The celebration brought together pupils from Coughton CofE Primary School, families, and the wider Coughton community, raising £1600 to support activities, enrichment opportunities, and equipment for the children.

The event took place on December 12, transforming the courtyard at Coughton Court into a magical festive setting.

Guests enjoyed traditional carols performed by the Coughton School Choir and joined in a sing-along beneath a twinkling Christmas tree, kindly donated by the Throckmorton family.

Festive games, tombolas, and seasonal snacks and treats were enjoyed throughout the afternoon, creating a joyful community atmosphere while raising funds for the school.

Coughton School Headteacher Alex Kolb said: “This was an incredibly exciting event for our school community.

“We are very fortunate to have such strong ties with the Throckmorton family and Coughton Court, which our children frequently visit for trips and special activities throughout the year.

“Being welcomed into such a historic and beautiful setting made the occasion extra special for our pupils and families. Many thanks to our PTA and the team at Coughton Court for bringing this wonderful event together.”

PTA Co-Chair Siân Smith added:“We are extremely grateful to the Throckmorton family for so generously donating and decorating the beautiful Christmas tree and to the National Trust for making it possible for us to hold our Christmas event at Coughton Court.

“The event was a great success in an amazing setting, and hearing the children sing carols in the fairy-lit courtyard was a lovely way to celebrate the festive season and raise money for our wonderful school.

“We are so lucky to have this wonderful, historic venue on our doorstep and we hope this is the beginning of many more events to come”

Gurminder Kenth of the National Trust said: “We were delighted to open Coughton Court for this event and welcome the school community into the courtyard. It is a pleasure to support such a wonderful local school and contribute to a festive celebration that brings families together in our community.”
