Plan for flats set to bring more town centre housing to Redditch

MORE flats look set to be built in Redditch, including at the former Redditch Trades and Labour Club on Bromsgrove Road.

The site, currently being used for private parking, will likely be demolished to make way for 40 flats – 26 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom.

At the Borough Council’s planning meeting on Wednesday, a representative from applicant, Cafe Quote, said: “The club hasn’t been used for four years.

“Sadly its closure was due to the 2007 smoking ban and cheap booze in supermarkets.”

Councillors decided to delegate the final decision to Head of Service, Ruth Bamford.

Also delegated to Head of Service was the proposal to build 14 one-bedroom flats, with car parking spaces on Station Way and Evesham Street.
