Plan to turn former pub into nine home development in Studley

PLANS to turn the former Victoria Works pub on Redditch Road in Studley into a development of nine houses were aired on Tuesday night.

Developer Grayston Nixon said the intention was to build four 3 bed homes, each bedroom with its own en-suite, three 2 bed homes and two single storey 1 bed homes in two blocks with 11 parking spaces between them.

He told Studley parish council the Victoria Works, formerly the Nag’s Head, closed 12 months ago, and the development was designed to mirror the street scene as it used to be in the village.

Councillor Jim Bacon was concerned the front doors of the four homes earmarked for the front of the development would open ‘virtually onto the street’ but parish chairman Coun Paul Beaman said: “At this stage we are not too upset at what we are seeing.”

The council will consider the plans formally at a later date.

Meanwhile revised plans to build five homes on land behind the A448 opposite the Jubilee Pub with access off Lords Lane received a cool reception.

Councillors felt it was over development, parking arrangements were poor and access to the site was ‘unacceptable’ and voted unanimously to oppose it.

There was better news for Ian and Lindsay Bewley who had applied to build two semi-detached homes in the garden of their Crooks Lane home for their two grown-up sons. This was unanimously supported.
