Plans approved for enhanced innovation centre in Redditch

NEW plans for an Innovation centre in Redditch have been approved following a planning application being submitted in July 2025.

The centre, which will be built on the former police station site, is part of a multi-strand set of projects which were approved following the creation of a Town Improvement Plan.

The additional £4million investment in the project, which has been re-allocated from the cancelled Library Project, has enabled the council to scale up the Innovation Centre’s ambitions.

This means the centre will now be able to host up to 40 businesses at a time.

The public realm works to Unicorn Hill and Church Green West have now been completed as part of the same programme of works.

Leader of the Council, Coun Sharon Harvey, said: “The development of a facility like this, right in the heart of the town will enable our local businesses, as well as new ones, to grow and thrive.

“The centre aims to provide an environment that will allow small and growing businesses to enhance their offerings, learn in a collaborative space, and take that next step of renting premises in a lower risk way.

“Innovation has always been strong in Redditch, and this project continues to foster this legacy.

“This marks an exciting milestone in our town centre regeneration journey.

“The Innovation Centre will serve as a dynamic hub for entrepreneurship, innovation and business growth, helping to shape a more resilient and forward-looking local economy.

The submitted plans include more square footage meaning that an increased number of businesses can be housed within the Innovation Centre.”

Designed to act as a springboard for local businesses, spaces will be available on short term leases.

The centre is set to open its doors for business in by the end of 2027.
