PLANS for an innovation centre in Redditch at the site of the old police station have been submitted following a cash boost of £4million.
Redditch Borough Council has submitted planning permission for the Innovation Centre as part of the multi-million-pound town centre regeneration project.
The additional £4million investment in the project, which has been re-allocated from the cancelled Library Project, has enabled the council to scale up the Innovation Centre’s ambitions. This means the centre will now be able to host up to 40 businesses at a time.
The expanded facility will also offer flexible office and workshop space and aims to support start-ups and existing businesses that want to innovate and grow.
Leader of the council, Councillor Sharon Harvey, said: “This marks an exciting milestone in our town centre regeneration journey.
“The Innovation Centre will serve as a dynamic hub for entrepreneurship, innovation and business growth, helping to shape a more resilient and forward-looking local economy.
“It will offer a fantastic resource to up-and-coming businesses in our local area, as well as attracting businesses from further afield.
“This extra investment means that the Innovation Centre will have the potential to deliver positive impact on a faster trajectory.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with the Innovation Centre set to open its doors for business in summer 2027.
