Play equipment given to children's group

ABOUT £800 worth of play equipment has been given to a children’s group.

The YMCA’s Kinder Gym project, which is based at Matchborough Christ Church, received the generous donation from Astwood Bank Carnival Committee.

The group, which runs every Wednesday and promotes co-ordination skills, balance and social interaction, applied for the funding and entered a float in last year’s carnival procession.

It was just one of many organisations the committee donated several thousand pounds to throughout the town after inviting everyone to create their own float following the theme of Science, Fact or Fiction.

Darren Veness, youth and community co-ordinator for YMCA Worcestershire, said: “We would like to thank the carnival committee for their generosity to enable us to grow this fantastic project.”

Ashley Hewitt, on behalf of the Astwood Bank Carnival Committee, added: “We were delighted to donate the money to such a great local organisation.”
