Plea for volunteers as busy year beckons for Redditch charity

Redditch Editorial 4th Jan, 2022   0

REDDITCH Association for the Blind has resumed many of its social activities in 2022.

The luncheon club takes place twice a month at Webheath village Hall providing about 20 members with lunch, fun and laughter.

A party of 50 members and volunteers also saw the old year out in style with a trip to the Palace Theatre on December 30 to see Jack and the Beanstalk – and a great time was had by all.

The association’s delayed annual party is on January 8 and there are two further trips planned, hopefully, in March and April to the theatre.

As with all charities, volunteers are not always easy to attract and despite the fact the charity’s trustees are so committed – some giving 40 years of service – new volunteers are welcome.

Support involves a monthly meeting, help with the luncheon club on a rota and with parties.

If anyone can help, please email: [email protected].

The association is also appealing for someone with experience in keeping accounts after its treasurer, Joyce Bush, announced her decision to step down after many years in the position.

“Joyce continues in post until the end of March,” said association chair Bill Payne.

“The input is not arduous, just a case of keeping a close eye on income and expenditure and preparing accounts annually.

“If you can be a volunteer or be our new treasurer please contact us at the email by email address above.

“I’d also like to thank the people of Redditch, for being so generous and positive in supporting our charity – a Happy New Year to you all.”
