A NEW scheme to support vulnerable people giving evidence in court has been launched across Worcestershire .
Citizens Advice has rolled out a new outreach service providing extra support to those witnesses most in need.
It will give additional support to vulnerable and intimidated witnesses, including children and people with mental health problems, giving them the option to be visited at home or meet at a safe community location ahead of giving evidence in a trial and after court proceedings finish.
More volunteers are now needed to help deliver the outreach service, and the Witness Service is encouraging people who want to take on a new role to sign up.
All new volunteers receive five or six days training and people interested can contact team leader Karen Holgate on 07775 414462 or email [email protected]
