PM and antics at No10 a major turn off for Redditch residents

Redditch Editorial 20th Jan, 2022   0

RESIDENTS of Redditch are being turned off politics by the Prime Minister.

That’s the stark finding of an impromptu poll of shoppers in the town centre this Thursday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson may have won plaudits from many residents for achieving Brexit but his uneven handling of the pandemic and recent revelations about breaches of lockdown rules at No10 Downing Street have soured his appeal for many people.

To gauge the public mood we took to the streets to ask people their thoughts on the Prime Minster – and the overwhelming response was that the antics at the heart of the Government were a complete turn off.

One lady said: “I’m not interested in any of it, people make mistakes but he’s the Prime Minster.

“I can’t stand watching the news and I don’t follow politics anymore, it’s just waking up another day and being outraged by this government.”

Most of the people we spoke to immediately became disinterested upon hearing the name Boris Johnson, with one lady saying: “Oh not that fool!”

One man said he thought it was inevitable the Prime Minster would lie, due to him being sacked for making up quotes in articles when he worked as a journalist.

“He’s the wrong type of Tory, he’s only out for himself he doesn’t care about anyone,” he said.

“I don’t watch the news anymore, it’s just ridiculous, he’s put me right off.”

He wasn’t alone – many people we spoke no longer kept up to date with any of the goings on in Westminster.

“What’s the point of even following politics anymore, they’re all the same just doing what they want to with no regard for us,” said one woman.

“I’ve really got nothing to say, they’re all an embarrassment.”
