Police appeal after car window jimmied and handbag stolen

Redditch Editorial 14th May, 2018   0

POLICE have appealed for help in tracing a thief who smashed a car window and stole a handbag in the peaceful village of Feckenham.

The victim had driven to Winfields Outdoors in Astwood Lane, on Friday, May 11, and parked her blue VW Polo in their car park at approximately 2.40pm.

However when she returned at 3.10pm she found the front passenger window had been jimmied and glass had shattered.

Her black handbag which was on the passenger seat and contained bank cards, a mobile phone and other personal affects had been stolen.

PC Paul Downes from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Vehicle offences like this are very rare in the village and at this time of day passers-by may have been in the area as it’s often used by dog walkers and ramblers.

“I would urge anyone that saw anything suspicious to contact the police on 101.”

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or their website.
