DETECTIVES in Redditch are appealing for witnesses and information after an attempted robbery in Abbey Road on Wednesday (November 23).
The incident happened around 3.15pm when a teenage girl, believed to be a student at Trinity High School, was approached by a man while she was walking along an alleyway just off Abbey Road.
The man approached the victim from the front and grabbed hold of her arm, demanding electrical items and attempting to search through the girl’s handbag.
He then released his grip, allowing the victim, who thankfully was not injured, to run home.
The man is described as Asian, 5’10” tall and of slim build with broad shoulders.
He is reported to have been wearing black/grey jeans or chinos which were baggy but with elastic at the ankles, black shoes and a black hooded top with a pocket at the front.
He was also wearing a black scarf around his mouth, thin black gloves and a black hat with the peak pulled down over his face.
Investigating officers would like to reassure members of the public that they are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and are treating this as an isolated incident.
However Trinity has advised its students to either walk home in pairs, along well lit areas or wait to be collected.
