POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was killed in a collision on the A46 near Alcester.

Martin Osman, aged 47, a member of CC Giro, was taking part in a 10km time trial on the road when the incident happened on the northbound carriageway at around 7.20pm on July 14.

Time trial regulations state all bikes taking part in an event must be fitted with a constant or flashing rear red light.

Ambulance crews, paramedics and an air ambulance were in attendance but despite best efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The driver of the car was assessed and discharged at the scene.

As a mark of respect to Martin cyclists have pinned jerseys to the Wixford bridge over the A46 and Beacon Roads CC has cancelled all its remaining time trials for 2021.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or has dash-cam or other video footage, to call 101 quoting incident reference 388 of 14 July 2021.
