POLICE are appealing for witnesses or information following the fatal collision on the M42 that happened in the late hours of yesterday, (Sunday, July 9).
It is reported to have taken place around 8:55pm, when four vehicles were involved in a collision on the southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 1 near Bromsgrove and not far from Redditch.
The incident involved a HGV, a Renault Kadjar and two Volkswagen Golfs.
The driver of one of theGolfs received fatal injuries and has yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the other Golf, a man in his 20s, received minor injuries to his foot.
The driver of the Renault Kadjar, a man in his 70s, received a broken arm and cuts abrasions.
His passenger, a woman also in her 70s, suffered a broken arm, leg and pelvis. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigating officer, PS Rob Gilligan of Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG), said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the circumstances leading up to the incident.
“Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on the non-emergency telephone number 101 quoting 2832 of 9 July 2017.”
* A 52-year-old man from Exmouth, Devon was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
