FOREIGN national offenders in Redditch are warned that police are cracking down as part of Operation Trivium.
Officers from Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, alongside Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), National Crime Agency the Home Office HM Revenue and Customs, worked across policing areas to tackle foreign national offenders (FNOs) as part of the operation from November 21 to November 25.
During Operation Trivium 7 police stopped a total of 353 vehicles, 171 and 182 respectively, and of these vehicles, 119 were driven by foreign drivers (33.7 per cent)
Over the operation West Mercia Police seized no vehicles but arrested 15 people, while Warwickshire Police seized 13 cars and arrested 6 people.
The arrests were for a range of offences including:
– modern day slavery
-money laundering
-suspicion of clandestine entry
During the operation police engaged with 547 people, and 281 of these were given advice or issued penalties.
PS Geoff Bell said: “Operation Trivium 7 has been a huge success for both of our forces.
“Of the 397 suspects who were arrested in the UK as a result of this operation 5.2 per cent of those were arrested by Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police.
“Operations like this play a vital part in protecting people from harm and we would like to thank everyone for their help and cooperation during this period.”
