OFFICERS from Redditch Police Station have moved into the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, after the station closes for demolition.
It is anticipated that officers will be based at the centre until October 2024.
PCC John Campion said he has worked with West Mercia Police to ensure the needs of the community are met.
“I am pleased to see that all police officers and staff have now moved into the temporary station,” he said. “I hope communities will feel the benefits of having their local policing team in the heart of the town.
“I am grateful to my estates team and contractors Speller Metcalfe for ensuring the retail space is suitable for supporting West Mercia Police’s operational needs.”
Whilst the temporary station doesn’t have a front counter, members of the public will still be able to contact their local officers by making appointments or using the new digital kiosks that are positioned outside.
People can also report crimes and contact their local policing team via the West Mercia Police website.
Superintendent Mel Paley, North Worcestershire LPA Commander, added: “It’s key that we maintain our visible policing presence in Redditch town centre while our new shared hub is being built.”
