Police reimburse woman who had handbag stolen in charity shop

Redditch Editorial 8th Dec, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

POLICE are warning shoppers to be wary of thieves in Redditch after a woman had her handbag stolen while in a charity shop.

Norma Whittington had her bag taken, which had her purse, phone, house keys and personal items inside, whilst she was in the Cancer Research Shop on November 13.

PC Adrian Corrigan from the Safer Neighbourhood team was able to reimburse Norma for the cost of the locksmith from a kind donation from West Mercia Police Community Fund who also presented her with a bouquet of flowers on Friday (December 4).

A spokesman said: “Thefts like this have a big impact on their victims, not only financially but also the sentimental items that Norma kept in her handbag that were her husbands who sadly died in 2013.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Redditch, the police on the non emergency 101 number or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
