POLICE have released a description of a man they want to speak to in relation to an assault on ‘Birdman Nick’ a popular figure at the park.

Nick is well known for feeding the wild birds at the lakeside and it was here, at about 5.30am, that the attack took place.

It is believed a male dog walker assaulted him after Nick asked him to control the animal, which wasn’t on a lead, as it had been scaring the birds.

Nick was taken to Alexandra Hospital where he received treatment for the brutal attack.

Police say his attacker was white, 6ft 3ins tall and in his 50s.

He had a stocky build with a shaved head and was wearing a white T-shirt and light blue jeans.

The dog is about knee height with a smooth black coat and a harness.

Police have asked anyone with information to visit westmercia.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/

Despite his injuries Nick was back at lakeside on Tuesday evening, feeding the wild geese, swans and ducks.

He provides them with high quality bird food and a Just Giving page has been set up to give him some financial security as he recovers from his injuries.
