Diamond Buses investigating after crash on The Ridgeway in Redditch

THE A441 Ridgeway road in Astwood Bank, Redditch was closed on Friday (January 6) following a gas leak.

A bus and a car had collided at around 4.40 pm, resulting in damage to a gas main pipe which caused the leak.

Police, the fire service and engineers from National Grid attended and the leak has now been resolved.

Residents were evacuated from nearby properties but were later allowed to return to their homes.

A Diamond Bus Spokesperson said: “At approximately 4.40pm on Friday (January 6) on The Ridgeway, Astwood Bank, there was a collision between a Diamond Bus and a car, which also caused damage to a wall and a gas main pipe.

“There were two passengers on the bus, one of whom was treated by paramedics at the scene for a nose bleed.

“The cause of the incident is currently under investigation and it would be inappropriate to comment further until those investigations are completed.”
