POLICE in Bromsgrove have issued a warning to motorbike owners after successfully recovering a bike stolen in the town.
The Triumph motorcycle (pictured) has now undergone forensic examinations and officers are trying to track down the thieves responsible.
After that, the motorbike will be returned to the rightful owner.
Officers said: “A sincere thank you to the members of the public who reported the bike’s location and assisted police in securing it.
“Your vigilance has directly supported the ongoing work to identify suspects and prevent further offences.”
Security measures
The incident has prompted West Mercia Police to issue security advice to motorbike owners to help them protect their bikes.
Among the tips are using a security approved chain and lock, ideally fixed to a ground anchor – using multiple devices significantly reduces the risk of the theft.
GPS trackers with real-time alerts can be installed so if bikes are stolen they can be tracked and recovered quickly.
Riders should park in well-lit, monitored or CCTV-covered areas wherever possible.
People should avoid leaving their bike in isolated or predictable locations.
Motorcycle covers can deter opportunistic thieves by obscuring the make and model and alarmed disc locks provide an additional deterrent.
