Poll Cards to start landing on doorsteps ahead of upcoming Redditch election

Redditch Editorial 27th Mar, 2024   0

RESIDENTS are being urged to be on the lookout for their poll cards due to come through letterboxes next week as the countdown to the Redditch Council election has now officially started.

The local, all-out elections for the borough will take place on Thursday, May 2, alongside the election for the West Mercia Police Area Police and Crime Commissioner.

This election is the first to take place since Redditch ward boundaries were reviewed.

The town now has nine wards, instead of 12, with three councillors representing each ward.

Once received, residents are being urged to double check their poll card for details of the polling station they have been assigned to as it may have changed from previous elections due to the new ward boundaries.

Electoral services manager, Darren Whitney, said: “The boundary review in Redditch was a major piece of work and, now it has been finalised, it allows elections to take place using the new wards.

“The Electoral Services Team is encouraging everyone in the borough to make sure they attend the right polling station in order to cast their vote on May 2, without any delays.

“If you cannot attend in person, you may be able to apply to vote by post or apply to have someone vote on your behalf as a proxy.”

Voters are also reminded that they need to bring voter ID with them to be allowed to vote in these elections.

Acceptable forms of ID need to have a photo on them such as a passport or photo driving licence.

Polling stations will be open from 7am till 10pm on polling day.
