THE RESULTS are in from two polls organised as part of the Standard’s ‘Great Redditch Market Debate’ with participants overwhelmingly backing an outdoor market.
On our Twitter poll, 85 per cent voted for the market to be moved outside and 15 per cent voted for it to remain in the Kingfisher.
On Instagram, 66 per cent voted for the market to go outside and 34 per cent voted for it to stay inside.
This comes after Redditch Labour Group put forward a commitment to re-establishing an outdoor market with an alternative budget at a full council meeting.
The Conservative Group voted against it, stating the market traders were happy indoors.
But Labour refuted this, claiming the traders would welcome the return of the outdoor market.
Labour added it understood some traders wanted to stay indoors and could do so as its outdoor market plan would be in addition to the indoor stalls.
