BRIAN the postman made his final delivery in Astwood Bank on Tuesday after 29 years of service with Royal Mail.
Kind-hearted residents in the area put together a money collection for Brian, who is a keen golfer, once they found out he was retiring.
A local told the Standard: “We put in a few quid each as a way of thanking him for his service and always being so friendly.
“We made the decision to give him money instead of a gift because we thought it would be good for him to choose what he wants.”
Brian, who has served the area for around 12 years, was delighted when locals greeted him while on his last morning round.
