Popular winter ales festival is returning

Redditch Editorial 15th Jan, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016

THE POPULAR Redditch Winter Ales Festival will return to the town next month after an absence of two years.

There will be 34 beers, eight ciders and perry on offer at the Rocklands Social Club, Headless Cross, on February 6 and 7.

The event, organised by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), is open to both members and non-members of the club.

It will also feature hot and cold food and open mic entertainment on both days.

A brand new pale bitter – Jester by Ambridge Brewery – will also be unveiled at the festival.

The beer is made using Jester hops which is a new developmental variety from Ali Capper’s hop farm in Suckley, Worcestershire.

The ale will be supplied by John Nowacki, the head brewer at Ambridge.

A spokesperson for the Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA branch said: “The festival has proved very popular in past years, so if you’d like to try a great range of beers and cider then put these dates in your calendar now.”

The festival will be open from midday to 11pm on the Friday and from 11am to 11pm on the Saturday.

Entry is £4 for card-carrying CAMRA members and Rocklands Club. Admission includes a commemorative glass and programme.

Those interested in volunteering or playing at the open mic event should email Richard Wood at or contact him via the website.
