Pounding the beat: Redditch PCSOs mark their years on patrol

Redditch Editorial 2nd Apr, 2021   0

A BRACE of Redditch PCSOs have been clocking up the miles and wearing out the shoe leather keeping the streets safe.

John Duggins and Gemma Bosco-Woods have become familar faces on the estates they cover offering a helping hand and guidance to the people they serve.

John, a Police and Community Support Officer covering Matchborough and Winyates, has been patrolling the area for 15 years but is about to leave the patch to take up a role with offender management.

His former boss on the Safer Neighbourhood Team, now Detective Sargeant Mandy Partridge, said: “Jon has served the community of Winyates and Matchborough for many years.

“His passion in creating positive activities for young people has earned him their respect and thanks and also that of their families.

“His interactions will undoubtedly have had a positive impact on many children and young, and this has been evident from the numbers wanting to take part in the activities he organised.

“I congratulate him on moving to a new role, and thank him for work he carried out as a member of Winyates and Matchborough Safer Neighbourhood Team.”

Jon’s colleague, PCSO Gemma Bosco-Woods has clocked up 14 years on the beat.

She said: “Joined on March 12, 2007 covering Woodrow initially but then did a stint on South West and Rural before three years in Bromsgrove town centre, and am now back on Greenlands, Lodge Park – Woodrow again.

“I love working with the community and hope I’m making a difference.

“I’ve set up many events and competitions and am looking forward to the time when we can do this all over again.

“I enjoy also working with the team at Woodrow Library, What’s your Point?, all the schools and the community itself.”
