Pride winner is to put art in the heart

Redditch Editorial 23rd Dec, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

THE chosen charity from this year’s Pride of Redditch Awards is to use the proceeds to bring the arts right into the heart of the town centre.

Indigo arts are a multi-faceted organisation running workshops, choirs, bands, performance and plays in the town and beyond having regularly flown the flag for Redditch – and received national plaudits – at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

Director Cathy Moss said the money raised on the night – more than £1,000 – will go towards moving the organisation from its current base at Tudor Grange Academy on the outskirts of town into the centre.

“2016 is our 15th birthday and this money will help develop our town centre project and facilities for us which is fantastic,” she said.

There are also a number of shows in the pipeline to mark the auspicious occasion.

“We are also hoping to do a musical in Redditch around summertime and we’ve got various projects witth Forge Mill Museum and of course we’ll still be fund-raising and doing our regular workshops,” said Cathy.

Indio arts runs Minimusic for four- to six-year-olds, Musicmaker for seven to 11 and 12 to 24-year-olds, and O25 for over 25s.

In addition they do performing arts workshops called Take 2 for young people and adults with learning disabilities, Vocal Ink for creative writers, Indigo Noise for musicians and IndigoCo – their acclaimed performance company.
