PRIME Minister Boris Johnson listened to concerns over the Alexandra Hospital’s lack of funding while at the Conservative Party Conference 2019.
At the event in Manchester, Redditch MP Rachel Maclean told Mr Johnson her constituents were eager to see services returned to the hospital.
“I seized the opportunity to talk directly to the Prime Minister by raising the issue of the Alex,” she said.
“It’s now pretty clear in his mind what is the top priority of my constituents.”
According to Mrs Maclean, Mr Johnson agreed it was ‘disappointing’ that local health bosses didn’t come forward with bids to improve or refurbish the Alex and also Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Although the Alex was not included in Mr Johnson’s £1.8billion one-off NHS cash boost, Mrs Maclean hopes Redditch will get a share of a further £1billion in NHS capital spending.
