YOUNGSTERS at St Thomas More Catholic First School got a first hand look at democracy in action when they canvassed for support and then voted for candidates on the School Council.
And they were joined by borough and county councillor Pattie Hill to explain the vital role councillors play in the running of the borough.
Coun Hill, a governor at the Studley Road school, answered questions on the role of a council member and returned to present the elected School Council with their badges.
“The young people had asked me in to school to explain what Councillors do,” said.
“They certainly ensured I responded! Our future is in good hands.”
