Prolific Redditch shoplifter sentenced to 20 weeks in prison

A PROLIFIC shoplifter from Redditch was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison  for theft from a shop.

Amanda Masters, 38, of Mount Pleasant, Redditch, was sentenced to the term at Kidderminster Magistrates Court after activating a suspended sentence from a previous offence.

Masters was further ordered to pay £165 in compensation.

PC Mike Moore of Redditch town centre team said: “We are pleased to get a custodial sentence for Masters whose shoplifting offences have impacted retailers in the town.

“We hope this serves as a deterrent to others thinking of committing similar crimes that we will bring you before the courts and you may also go to prison.

“Retail crime can often be seen as a victimless crime; however, we know from working with shops that it not only impacts staff, but also the public.”
