STUDLEY in Bloom are holding a major village litter pick – and they want everyone to help get the village look spick and span.
They’ll be gathering at Pool Road car park on Saturday, March 5 for the event, combining their monthly clean up with the national Clean for the Queen drive to mark the monarch’s 90th birthday.
With them will be Guides, Brownies and a whole host of other helpers and you can join in too – all you need is a sensible pair of gloves as all bin bags and litter pickers will be provided by the Bloomers.
Studley won the honour of competing in the Britain in Bloom competition after winning the Heart of England in Bloom five times in a row, picking up the gold award every time.
And thanks to the efforts of the Studley in Bloom crew the appearance of the village has been transformed into a riot of colour throughout the spring, summer and autumn.
Now as the action group faces its toughest challenge yet they’d like local people to join them and do their bit to clean up their locality and really make Studley sparkle ready for when the judges from the Royal Horticultural Society visit later in the year.
“It’s going to be a huge task but it’s also a massive opportunity for Studley, one too good to miss so we will be going all out to make the village look its best,” said Jill Liebthal, chair of Studley in Bloom.
To play your part simply turn up at Pool Road car park at 10am on Saturday, March 5 – and the Redditch Standard will be there too. For more details call Jill on 01527 853132.
