Pupils at Webheath Primary use Smarties to raise cash

Ross Crawford 19th Jun, 2019

SOME smart at Webheath Primary has got an important fundraising drive off to a great start at the Downsell Road school.

Getting all the pupils involved, the children were sent home just before half term with tubes of Smarties as a sweetener to launch the project.

“The children get to eat the Smarties and then over the course of the next few weeks, they will fill the tube with as many 20p coins as possible before returning it to school at the end of term,” said Hannah Sole, chair of the PTA registered charity, Friends of Webheath Academy Primary School.

The aim is to raise enough money to start improving school facilities.

“Tesco Redditch kindly sponsored this fundraising event and agreed to source the Smarties and provide them for free.

We are extremely grateful for their support.”
