Rachel Maclean: Captain Sir Tom Moore deserves a statue

Redditch Editorial 6th Feb, 2021   0

CAPTAIN Sir Tom Moore was a national hero. In our darkest hour he inspired a whole country.

We can ensure Captain Moore’s legacy lives on by erecting a statue in his honour.

A statue that will be a fitting tribute to a man who not only raised millions of pounds for the NHS but fought for this country in the Second World War.

This statue will be a constant reminder of all that Captain Moore embodied: service to his country and that unflinching British spirit that, despite times being tough, we come together as we are stronger as one.

I’m pleased the Prime Minister already supports this idea and countless others do too with petitions in support of a statue spreading across social media.

It’s right the Prime Minister has said the Government will work with Captain Moore’s family on plans to ensure his legacy is honoured.

Here in Redditch we can demonstrate our support for a Captain Moore statue to be erected.

Please visit www.rachelmaclean.uk, where you can register your support so we can show the Government there is overwhelming support to honour the life and legacy of a British hero.

I’m sure I speak for the whole of Redditch when I say our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Captain Moore’s family at this difficult time.
