“LAST Friday I enjoyed another busy day across the constituency, which doesn’t just cover the town, but stretches far into the countryside.
I held surgeries in three surrounding villages – Feckenham, Inkberrow, and Hanbury – to meet constituents to discuss the issues that matter to them.
I love the opportunity to chat to residents and to find out what I need to do to ensure everyone feels represented.
On a quick break, we went to a Macmillan Coffee Morning in the Feckenham Village Shop.
We have all seen the recent news about the number of cancer referrals dropping due to Covid-19 restrictions, so now more than ever we should be supporting charities like Macmillan.
I ended the day by hosting a public meeting to discuss road safety in Hanbury after the death of a close friend and member of the community.
We were joined by the local authority, the highways authority, John Campion, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the new Chief Constable of West Mercia, Pippa Mills.
I want to thank those mentioned and all residents who took the time to come and discuss this issue.
It was incredibly powerful to hear residents’ concerns about speeding and anti-social driving in the village. They drew attention to speed limits that do not match road usage and the lack of traffic calming around the local first school.
I am committed to standing by constituents in tackling this issue and I hope their concerns are taken seriously. It shouldn’t take a death before something is done about speeding, and I am determined to ensure the relevant authorities take swift and appropriate action.
I look forward to meeting more of constituents in my upcoming pop-up surgeries in Redditch town centre and across the town later this month.”
